Does The Drip Work Like Email List Drip?

In email dripping when we create a drip and a list source
Whenever a new contact is added to the list
The Drip starts from the beginning and sends scheduled message to each contact one by one regardless of when they are added to the list for the drip set.

I want to know if this drips works like 
or when I add a new contact and the first set of contact are in day 5/10 it starts from day 5 for the new person i added or it starts from the beginning for the new contact added.
